Getting to the University of Ottawa campus and the downtown core:

From the airport

Taxi

The taxi stand can be found outside the Level 1 Arrivals area. The fare from the airport to the downtown core/University of Ottawa campus is approximately $30 (+ tip). Accessible vehicles are available upon request; call dispatch at 613-523-1234.

Airport Shuttle Bus

The airport shuttle can be found outside the Level 1 Arrivals area at Post 10.

Scheduled service is available every 30 minutes to most downtown hotels, including all of our conference hotels. The first shuttle leaves the airport at 5:25 a.m. and the last shuttle at 11:55 p.m., with departures between these times scheduled for every 25 minutes after the hour and every 5 minutes before the hour, every hour. Inform the driver of your hotel destination when you board.

Shuttle tickets can be purchased at the shuttle's Ottawa Airport ticket booth located in the Level 1 Arrivals area.

One way fares:  1 adult - $14.00; 2 adults-$11 each; 3 or more adults- $8 each.

Return fares: 1 adult - $24.00

For your return trip to the airport, the shuttle has scheduled pick-up times at the following hotels: Novotel, Les Suites, The Westin Ottawa, Fairmount Chateau Laurier, Lord Elgin, Sheraton, Crowne Plaza, Ottawa Marriott, Delta Ottawa Hotel and Suites, Minto Suite. Public Transit

Ottawa Airport to Laurier via OC TranspoOttawa's public transit system is OC Transpo.

Route 97 (direction Bayshore) departs from post 14 outside the Level 1 Arrivals area and passes by the University of Ottawa campus and through the downtown core. This trip takes about 20 minutes. On weekdays, the first bus leaves the airport at 5:03 a.m. and the last one leaves at 2:29 a.m. On Saturday, the first bus leaves the airport at 5:29 a.m. and the last one leaves at 2:40 a.m. There are departures during the day every 15-30 minutes, depending on the time of day.

The conference site is located at the bus stop Laurier, which is one stop past the Campus stop and one stop before the Mackenzie King stop (at the Rideau Centre.)

Bus fare for one trip is $3.00 CAD or two tickets (tickets are $1.15 each.) Tickets can be purchased at the Ground Transportation Desk located on Level 1 of the Arrivals area. Cash payments can be made directly to the driver (exact change only).

When you board and provide payment, make sure to request a transfer, called a Proof of Payment (POP). This allows you unlimited travel during the time printed on the transfer ticket (usually within 90 minutes of your boarding time) and is your proof of payment in case of fare inspection by OC Transpo Operators or Transit Enforcement Officers. Anyone unable to provide proof of payment may be fined $150.00.

For your return trip to the airport, be sure to board Route 97(Airport) and NOT Route 97X(South Keys), as the latter does not go to the airport.

Note also that on the timetable for Route 97, there is no posted time of departure to the airport from Laurier stop; please refer to the Mackenzie King stop pick-up time when planning your return trip to the airport, as this stop is the one directly before the Laurier stop.

From VIA Rail Station (200 Tremblay Rd.)

Taxi

Taxis can be found just outside the main entrance. The approximate fare from the station to the downtown core/University of Ottawa campus is $15.00 (+ tip).

Public Transit

Train station to Laurier on OC Transpo

Ottawa's public transit system is OC Transpo.

Route 94 (direction Tunney's Pasture) and  Route 95 (direction Barrhaven Centre) both depart from the stop VIA Train and pass by the University of Ottawa campus and through the downtown core. This trip takes about 7 minutes.

The bus stop for Routes 94 and 95 heading towards the downtown area/University of Ottawa campus are found at stop 2A, located a short walk from the main entrance of the VIA Rail station through the covered pedestrian overpass. The bus stop is fully accessible and equipped with an elevator.

Route 94 runs from 5:55 a.m. until 9:45 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:10 a.m. until 6:10 p.m. on Saturdays, with departures every 10-30 minutes depending on the time of day. Route 95 runs from 3:30 a.m. until 3:00 a.m. on weekdays and on Saturdays, with a bus departing every 3-30 minutes, depending on the time of day.

The conference site is located at the Laurier bus stop which is one stop past the Campus stop and one stop before the Mackenzie King stop (at the Rideau Centre).

From the main Greyhound bus terminal (265 Catherine Street)

Taxi

The taxi stand can be found just outside the main entrance. The approximate fare from the terminal to the downtown core/University of Ottawa campus is $10.00 (+ tip).

Public Transit

Central Bus Station to the Rideau CentreOttawa's public transit system is OC Transpo.

Route 4 (direction Downtown) departs from the bus terminal on the corner of Kent St. and Arlington Ave. and will take you as far the Mackenzie King stop at the Rideau Centre. From there, the University of Ottawa campus is a 5- to 10-minute walk. Or, using your transfer/POP, you can board any of the following buses and take them one stop farther, to the Laurier stop: 85 (Hurdman), 86 (Elmvale), 87 (South Keys), 94 (Millenium), 95 (Orléans), 96 (Hurdman), 97(Airport).

Route 4 runs from 4:50 a.m. until 11:06 p.m. on weekdays, and from 6:55 a.m. until 1:05 a.m. on Saturdays, with departures every 6-20 minutes, depending on the time of day.

Getting around Ottawa:

  1. All of our conference hotels are within walking distance of the University of Ottawa campus.
  2. Most of Ottawa's main tourist attractions (Parliament, the National Gallery of Canada, the ByWard Market, the National Arts Centre, etc.) are within walking distance of the University of Ottawa campus and most of the conference hotels.
